Your Journey to Oxford, Made Easy
For international scholars joining the Oxford Scholars Programme, travelling to the UK should feel exciting – not overwhelming. That’s why our team provides clear, practical guidance through every stage of the visa process. Whether you need a Standard Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), we’ll help you understand exactly what to do, when to do it, and what to expect once you arrive.
Students are expected to arrive in Oxford on 2nd August 2026 and depart on 15th August 2026.
Who needs a Standard Visitor Visa?
Depending on your nationality, you’ll need either a Standard Visitor Visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to study with us. You don’t need to figure this out on your own – once you’ve booked your course, our team will confirm which option applies to you and send detailed step-by-step instructions. You can also check directly using the UK Government’s official website.
Applying for your standard visitor visa is straightforward – especially with our guidance. Once your place is confirmed and your programme fees are paid, we’ll issue your Visa Support Letter – an official document confirming your enrolment and assisting with your visa application. With our step-by-step advice, checklists, and timely reminders, you’ll have everything you need for a smooth, stress-free journey to Oxford.
Before Applying for your Standard Visitor Visa, Please Ensure that:
- Your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of arrival.
- You prepare and submit all required documents in advance, as visa processing times can vary.
Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)
For students from certain countries, the UK now requires an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) instead of a visitor visa. An ETA allows visitors to travel to the UK for short stays, including participation in programmes like the Oxford Scholars Programme.
ETAs are usually approved within a few days and are linked automatically to your passport. With our step-by-step guidance and reminders, you’ll know exactly when and how to apply to ensure a smooth and timely approval.
For more details, you can visit the official UK Government website.

Letter of Parental Consent
The Oxford Scholars Programme provides all registered students under the age of 18 with a Letter of Parental Consent template.
This document must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian and should be carried by the student when travelling independently to the UK to attend their Oxford summer school.
The Letter Serves Two Purposes
01
It confirms that the parent or guardian authorises the student to travel alone to attend the Oxford Scholars Programme.
02
It provides immigration officers with OSP’s official contact details should they need to reach a member of staff upon the student’s arrival in the UK.
Carrying this signed letter is strongly recommended for all international scholars under 18 whose journey involves crossing an international border without a parent or guardian.
At the UK Border
When you arrive in the UK, keep your documents in your hand luggage so they’re easy to access. Border officers may ask about your plans, accommodation, or return arrangements – simple questions to confirm your purpose of travel. Showing your Visa Support Letter from OSP and parental consent letter makes this process quick and easy. Our team will be ready to welcome you once you’ve cleared customs and collected your luggage. We’ll ensure your journey from the airport to Oxford is safe, comfortable, and fully supported.
