Job Description:

Job Title: Subject Tutor (for 14-18 year olds)
Location: Linacre College, Oxford
Contract type: Short-term
Programme Duration: Two weeks (4th August – 17th August 2024)
Teaching Schedule: Teaching will generally occur from Monday (5th August 2024) to Friday (16th August 2024), from 09:00 to 11:00 (Lecture) and from 14:00 to 16:00 (Project Tutorial).

Responsibilities:

​

  • Curriculum Preparation: Design and deliver dynamic lesson plans aligned with OSP’s challenging curriculum and academic objectives.

  • Dynamic Instruction: Deliver lessons with enthusiasm using diverse teaching methodologies to engage and inspire students. This includes leading project tutorials.

  • Student Progress: Monitor and support student progress, making necessary adjustments to tasks and instructions to ensure academic achievement for all.

  • Assessment and Feedback: Develop and grade assignments, providing personalized feedback to foster student development and address individual learning needs.

  • Educational Materials Creation: Produce and refine comprehensive instructional resources, including syllabi, presentations, handouts, and assessments, to meet OSP’s high academic standards.

  • Professional Collaboration: Work closely with other educators and OSP staff to enhance the learning experience and participate in shared knowledge and cross-class engagement.

  • Administrative Duties: Manage daily student registers, complete personalized student reports, and review equipment and material needs for classes.

  • Ethical and Academic Integrity: Uphold OSP’s policies, guidelines, and ethical standards, ensuring a safe, respectful, and intellectually stimulating learning environment for all
    participants.

 

Person Specification:

​

  • Subject Expertise: Possess in-depth and current knowledge of the subject, with the ability to draw on a wide range of case studies and real-world
    examples.

  • Inspirational Approach: Demonstrated passion for educating and inspiring future generations through dynamic and innovative teaching methods.

  • Adaptability: Excellent ability to tailor teaching approaches to diverse student needs, learning styles, and cultural backgrounds.

  • Communication: Strong skills in clear, effective communication, with the ability to engage and motivate students.

  • Organization: Solid organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

 

Essential Qualifications:

​

  • A Master’s degree in the relevant subject is the minimum requirement

  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the tutorial level at Oxford University.

  • Experience in course design and academic content development.

  • Proficiency in utilising instructional technology and digital tools.

 

Desirable Qualifications/Experience:

​

  • A Master’s or PhD in the relevant subject area.

  • A PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.

  • Experience in teaching 14-18 year olds.
