Dreams, Friendship, and Learning: My Unforgettable Oxford Adventure

Never had I thought that one day I could say “I’ve been to Oxford!” This seemed like a dream, a distant longing too far-fetched and unattainable. But then, suddenly, for two whole weeks this August, my fantasy became reality. And it was as grand as I had thought! The stunning architecture of each building, the network of cobblestone streets, and landmarks steeped in history everywhere I went left me awestruck and amazed. Still, not only the environment impressed me, but also the people I encountered through the Oxford Experience Programme. All of our wonderful leaders like Minahil, Satchel, Ahmed, Talha and Kushal have made this experience unforgettable with their encouraging, friendly personalities that held this whole programme together. Finally, this experience would not have been the same without the incredible love and support that all the students had for each other. We truly were in this experience together—all growing, all striving to do our best and all enjoying each minute of our time together. Although every moment at Oxford was memorable, one date in particular stands out: August 11, which was my 16th birthday. I had the wonderful privilege of spending the day exploring downtown London while surrounded and supported by so many friends and peers. All of the hugs, kind words and gifts really made OSP feel like home away from home. Those birthday memories will always have a special place in my heart. I also loved the opportunity to experience once-in-a-lifetime activities, such as learning how to row on the Thames from an Olympic athlete, as well as debating at the Oxford town hall and exploring the city of Oxford.

Coming into this programme, I had absolutely no prior knowledge of entrepreneurship and what it entailed, so I was quite anxious about the academics. But my fears quickly eased because the Oxford teachers were very kind and encouraging, expanding my knowledge and pushing my mind to think about new concepts and material. My classmates were also supportive throughout every step of the learning process. Together, we worked to expand our knowledge of business and push each other out of our comfort zones, fully embracing the OSP’s prestigious approach to learning. Above all, the OSP experience has shown me that, although the students and faculty came from diverse places, we could form an unbreakable bond. At OSP, those with different cultures and backgrounds from around the globe came together in one place united by one goal: to learn more about this world that we have been placed in. And, through our differences and similarities, we have created bonds that will last a lifetime, no matter the distance.
