Key Responsibilities: 

Mental Health Support 

Mental Health Support 

  • Provide confidential one-on-one counselling sessions for students, addressing a range of emotional and psychological concerns. 

  • Offer a non-judgmental and empathetic environment for students to discuss their thoughts, feelings, and challenges. 

  • Assist students in developing effective coping mechanisms and strategies to manage stress, homesickness, and other emotional difficulties. â€‹

Group Sessions and Workshops 

  • Facilitate group counselling sessions and workshops on topics such as stress management, resilience building, and self-care. 

  • Create a safe and inclusive space for students to engage in open discussions and share their experiences. 

  • Develop and implement psychoeducational programs that promote emotional well-being and personal growth. 

Crisis Intervention 

  • Provide immediate support and crisis intervention for students experiencing acute emotional distress or crises. 

  • Collaborate with the designated safeguarding officer and appropriate authorities when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of students. 

Consultation and Referral 

  • Consult with other staff members, academic tutors, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support. 

  • Make appropriate referrals to external mental health resources when students require specialised or long-term care. 

Documentation and Reporting 

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and assessments. 

  • Document any significant observations, concerns, or incidents and report them to the designated authorities as per OSP’s safeguarding procedures. 

Promotion of Mental Health Awareness 

  • Collaborate with OSP management to organise awareness campaigns and activities that promote mental health and well-being. 

  • Contribute to the development of educational materials on mental health topics for students, staff, and parents. 

Professional Development 

  • Stay updated on best practices, trends, and research in the field of mental health and counselling. 

  • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance counselling skills and knowledge. 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • Master’s degree in Counselling, Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or a related field. 

  • Professional licensure or certification in counselling or therapy (where applicable). 

  • Experience in providing individual and group counselling to adolescents. 

  • Strong knowledge of mental health issues affecting young people. 

  • Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Empathy, compassion, and the ability to establish rapport with diverse individuals. 

  • Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection principles. 

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards. 

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
